Blowlight Facade, Concept Design, 2011
This conceptual facade design explores a building's relationship with its surroundings, encouraging an interaction between weather and architecture, using the wind to trigger an ever-changing and moving pattern of lights.
The design is inspired by a fascination with meterological phenomena and the unique sets of conditions that are simultaneously fulfilled in order to trigger an event to happen. These events, designed by nature, have the ability to affect our emotions deeply and contribute to our reflective consumption, creating an accessible sense of curiosity and wonder; something that is often lacking in our busy cities.
The conditions that trigger Blowlight could be met at any time, however, as in nature, there may not necessarily be anyone around to witness it.
