What does it feel like to be a musician?
Heartfelt is a fully immersive performance of Beethoven's String Quartet in A minor, Op.132, combining a live performance with hand-held robotic hearts that beat in time with the musician's own heartbeat.
The heart form takes inspiration from the platonic solids, lovingly crafted from maple wood, with each musician's name etched inside the f-hole, and housing the bespoke technology inside.
In collaboration with The Sacconi Quartet, experimental robotic designers Rusty Squid, and interactive lighting designer Ziggy Jacobs-Wyburn.
The concept for Heartfelt grew out of Hack the Quartet, a two day Hackathon produced and hosted by Watershed in 2013 as part of Bristol Proms.
